Sebastiano Sing, born on August 9, 1988, in Tegernsee, Germany, is an accomplished choreographer and performer currently residing in Vienna, Austria. As the artistic director of Tanztheater Sing, Sebastiano's creative vision is centered around exploring themes of escapism from the routines of everyday life, transcending the ordinary, and delving into the profound question, "What do we dream of?"
Driven by a deep yearning for evocative atmospheres and a passion for crafting narratives through poetic imagery, Sebastiano's choreographic practice demonstrates a commitment to exploring the rich dimensions of the dance theater genre. His personal dedication is centered on the ongoing refinement and evolution of the aesthetics inherent to this captivating form of artistic expression.
Sebastiano Sing’s works have been showcased in prominent cities such as London, Lisbon, Belgrade, Venice, Munich, Stuttgart, and Vienna. His engagements as a performer have taken him to various European cities and festivals, including the Biennale Teatro in Venice (2018), the Venice Art Biennale (2015), steirischer herbst (2016), Wiener Festwochen (2017), and Wien Modern (2022).
Sebastiano pursued studies in Performative Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, graduating with Highest Honor. Notable recognitions include the 2020 Startstipendium (grant) for Performing Arts, awarded by the Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture in Austria, and the prestigious danceWEB grant of the ImPulsTanz International Dance Festival 2021. His collaborations include notable names such as Milos Lolic, Christopher Rüping, and Gisèle Vienne. Additionally, he served as an assistant director at Münchner Volkstheater (2012/2013).
